Root Letter is the first installment of the new "Kadokawa Game Mystery" series. It is a collection of Visual Novels currently being developed by Kadokawa Games studios.

The game begins in Shimane Prefecture, a place full of history, culture, and picturesque landscapes. The scenario of Letter revolves around the mysterious disappearance of Fumino Aya, a former high school correspondent who disappeared 15 years ago. Receiving her last letter with 15 years of delay, in which she confesses to having committed a murder, you will have to unravel the mystery of what happened to her.

Through the memories of Fumino Aya's previous letters and with the support of the testimonies of seven people who knew her, you will have to reconstruct the truth. Did she really kill someone? Did she write the truth in her letters? Did she even really exist?

By visiting different locations in Shimane Prefecture to question people about her past, it is only by studying her letters that you will be able to solve this mystery.
