The Z8, license plate V354 FMP, is equipped with all the usual Q refinements, including titanium plating, air-to-air missiles behind the side air intakes (these are Estes Bull Pup rockets), a remote control system, an infrared tracking system, a high-sensitivity listening device and, as proudly shown by R (John Cleese), cup holders. The Z8 is unfortunately not used much in the film and is cut in half by a helicopter with a very large saw. Approximately 5,700 Z8s were built by BMW, half of which were exported to the United States. The $130,000 car has a fully aluminum chassis and body and includes a 5.0-liter (4,941 cc) V8 S62 engine with 400 horsepower (300 kW), built by the BMW Motorsports subsidiary, directly inspired by the E39 M5. 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 4.7 seconds.
