Akim (1st series) is a magazine published by Aventures & Voyages.
Bimonthly for most of its publication run. Each issue of the magazine presented an episode of the eponymous hero with a length between 50 & 60 pages. Monthly from No. 1 to No. 22, then bimonthly until the end. From No. 669, the Akim episodes were reprints in the order of episodes 265 and following. Before that, No. 665 and 666 had reprinted Bengali No. 15 episode which was not by Pedrazza.
Akim is one of the many Tarzan clones. He stands out for his amazing longevity as well as the unbridled imagination of his scriptwriter (Roberto Renzi) sometimes borrowing from the iconography of successful films such as Star Wars. If in the early episodes, the illustrator Augusto Pedrazza proves rather clumsy, his style will be refined to acquire a suppleness that will be somewhat his trademark. Without equaling the greatest artists of the 9th art because he had to produce 50 pages every two weeks, which does not leave too much time for finishing touches.
NB: This is the small format that had the largest number of issues!
