Schleich - Female Giraffe Figure - 14750
Despite the spotted camouflage of their coat, giraffes do not always escape the attention of their predators. But they know how to defend themselves by giving powerful blows with their front hooves. They generally only do this when they have to protect their young, as adult giraffes are rarely attacked. When we have the chance to observe them up close, female giraffes are not difficult to distinguish from males. They are a little smaller and their ossicones are thin and covered with small tufts of hair. Male giraffes have thicker ossicones and are devoid of hair at their extremities.
