Schleich - Herrerasaurus Figure - 14576
Compared to the Giganotosaurus and Spinosaurus, which lived much later, the Herrerasaurus was rather small. It was no more than three to four meters long. But its legs were very powerful and it could run almost as fast as a 1 meter runner. For a dinosaur, the Herrerasaurus had a rather unusual lower jaw. Indeed, a mobile joint allowed it to move it forward and backward. This allowed it to better hold its prey. It owes its name to the Argentine shepherd Victorino Herrera who, in 1959, accidentally discovered its skeleton.
