A French company It was in 2005 that Hicham Ayoub Bedran founded the Matagot publishing house, starting with the publication of role-playing games such as Cendres or Te Deum pour un Massacre, before embarking on the creation of board games. Then, Hicham was joined by Arnaud Charpentier. The two partners have very different profiles, as Hicham is originally from the world of publishing and games, having already taken on the role of editor-in-chief and being very alert on issues of editorial content, layout and manufacturing. Arnaud, on the other hand, is trained in management and finance and is a passionate gamer. Matagot is first and foremost a very French identity. The legends of French folklore tell that the matagot is a fantastic cat that must be captured in a large bag and brought home. The one who cherishes the matagot will be offered a louis d'or every morning in the chest where the animal rests. This is how the company's logo has always been an ajar chest revealing two mischievous yellow eyes and the cat's tail. Our motto, "Our games have a soul," testifies to our desire to imbue each game with a true universe, an apprehension that goes far beyond a simple box and contains something more magical. From the small office to the large premises It was in 2006 when Matagot published its first games, with Expedition Altiplano and Tomahawk, which are games specifically designed for two players. Matagot was then a very small company where we worked in a basement office. That same year, the XL Khronos game will inaugurate the EXPERT section of the catalog with its solid cerebral mechanics; it will give a real impetus to Matagot and inaugurate the rigor and quality of the materials of our games. Matagot has taken the original stance of communicating extensively on this game, already wanting to be close to its community, with exceptional teasers for the time as well as many dedicated websites for the games being released, particularly for Utopia and Géant de l'île de Pâques. Matagot works very quickly with renowned authors and quickly carves out a choice spot in the market. In 2009, it was the consecration with the game Cyclades which will see the release of many extensions and remains an essential hit of the Expert range. That same year, the cult Dice Town and its western theme appeared, embodying the brand's values of entertainment among friends. Recently, in 2017, the company invested in new premises in Paris where the team works on the creation of your next games. Editorial line At the Matagot publishing house, we distinguish our activities into two branches, namely Matagot creations and game localizations. Matagot's editorial line is fundamentally generalist. In view of the growing demand and diversification of our activities, we have established deep requirements in terms of the quality of game mechanisms, translations, but also the quality of manufacturing of game pieces, in order to offer an optimal board game experience for all.
