Kiwami tells the original Yakuza storyline. At the beginning of the game, the protagonist of the story, Kazuma Kiryu, is unjustly accused of the murder of his family's patriarch and thrown in prison. To further complicate matters, during the 10 years he spends behind bars, Kiryu is not only banished from the Yakuza by his clan, but 10 billion yen disappear from the clan's treasury. As if that weren't enough, Kiryu's girlfriend has also disappeared. The entire Japanese underworld is searching for the missing money, and Kiryu is left to fend for himself. As he tries to track down his girlfriend, he meets an orphan named Haruka. Plunged into a world of intrigue and betrayal, Kiryu will stop at nothing to clear his name.
Highlights:
- Tons of new content - Kiwami is not just a graphical remaster. You'll discover nearly 30 minutes of new cutscenes that help better understand the game's plot and add bridges to the series prequel, Yakuza 0. And that's not all: new diversions (Pocket Circuit racing, MesuKing: Battle Bug Beauties, new hostesses and much more), side quests and combat mechanics improvements breathe new life into a vastly enriched Yakuza on the latest generation console.
- For newcomers and veterans alike - Yakuza Kiwami is the ultimate gateway to the series: newcomers and those who started with Yakuza 0 will find precise game controls, an exceptional localization by SEGA, and a solid entry point into the Yakuza series. Long-time fans, on the other hand, will rediscover Kamurocho and the original storyline, as well as numerous additional content and a stunning graphical update.
- Hello, it's me: Majima! - A new addition to Kiwami, the "Majima Everywhere" system allows the series' one-eyed madman to challenge Kiryu in combat when he least expects it. Prepare for jaw-dropping surprises, stay on your guard, and always be ready to defend yourself against Kiryu's main rival.
- A full remake - Kiwami has been completely redeveloped in HD, with Japanese dialogues re-recorded by the original voice actors, and specifically optimized in 1080p/60FPS for the PlayStation 4. And as is the SEGA tradition for the Yakuza series, the game will be available in the West both in physical and digital formats.
