Spyro has been teleported to Avalar to defeat the evil sorcerer Ripto, who is sowing chaos there. Each of Avalar's worlds is under Ripto and his henchmen's control, and it's up to Spyro to defeat them and restore peace. In this adventure, Spyro will have to use his flames, combat skills, and wits to triumph over his enemies while taking on unique challenges, such as herding strange animals, shooting targets, and defeating dangerous dinosaurs.

As the Dragon Realms celebrate the Year of the Dragon, a mysterious masked figure begins stealing all the dragon eggs. Enchanted by the evil sorceress, the Rhynocs now guard them in the Forgotten Realms. Accompanied by his old and new friends, Spyro must find the eggs, defeat the Rhynoc army, and foil the evil sorceress's plans.
