Project Zero

Project Zero is the first game in the series, released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles. The story takes place in 1986. The player controls a young Japanese woman named Miku who is searching for her brother Mafuyu, a journalist who disappeared in an abandoned old mansion while researching a missing novelist. Armed with only her camera, Miku, trapped in the mansion, continues to search for her brother while fighting the roaming spirits in the property. The young woman must also uncover the secret of the mysterious curse weighing on the Himuro Mansion and concerning a young girl with a broken heart dressed in a white kimono and dragging ropes.
