After a fourth episode set in modern warfare, Call of Duty plunges players back into World War II, this time focusing on the Pacific Theater and the Eastern Front. The horrors of war. Immersion is only possible if it places the player in a sufficiently intense situation to monopolize all their senses. Under this unique condition, the player can 'lose' touch with reality. Call of Duty: World at War is one of the games capable of providing this emotion. It offers anthology scenes. The sequences in Stalingrad, where you have to make your way through the ravaged streets, are durably striking. But they are not the only ones. In the Pacific, the confrontations where you find yourself gripped by fear, in a desperate situation, with no other possibility than to delve further into hostile territory, are numerous. Call of Duty: World at War is a total war experience from which one does not emerge unscathed. Hardcore gamers know what they have to do.
