English alone at home or in the cozy and comfortable atmosphere of a language laboratory, you can understand or speak it without too many problems. But once in real life, it's a different story, between the accent and the speech rate of your interlocutor and the background noises that cover it all. It is based on this observation that Practise English! Speaking English daily on Nintendo DS has been developed. With more than 400 everyday scenes recorded in real conditions, everyone can work 'as if they were there' listening comprehension, writing and pronunciation.
Answering the phone, buying clothes, settling a taxi ride, listening to directions in a train station or airport, conversing with office colleagues, asking a local for directions, listening to the news... so many anxiety-provoking situations where a misunderstanding can lead to inconvenience and misunderstandings.
Following the principle of immersion according to which the best way to learn a language is to hear and speak it, Practise English! Speaking English daily offers those who have a basic knowledge of English to immerse themselves in more than 400 everyday situations and gain confidence.
It all starts with an assessment of your English level: this is the two-part Test. First a dictation: the console dictates a word or sentence and the user writes it letter by letter using the stylus on the Nintendo DS touch screen. If he makes a mistake, he erases and can also re-listen to the sentence if some elements have escaped him. Then comes the oral comprehension. The user listens to a dialogue and then answers a question. His result is then displayed ranging from 'skull' to AAA.
Once his level is known, the user can work on his English by varying the activities. He can choose, to develop his listening comprehension and writing, a 'classic' dictation. The sentences of this one are pronounced in their real context with all the sound interferences of everyday life (bus passing in the street, fax and printers in the workplace...) which makes the exercise both realistic and difficult. Once the entire sentence has been dictated and written, the grammatical structure and translation of this sentence appear. And for a smooth progression, the software has 7 levels of difficulty.
Each person can also work in depth on their pronunciation of the language of Shakespeare with more than 2000 recorded sentences. For this, the user first listens to a sentence, then repeats it into the Nintendo DS microphone which records it. His pronunciation is then compared to that of the model.
For fun, he will also be able to discover a whole variety of fun exercises that he will unlock by training regularly. Some, like song dictation (using popular tunes), allow...
