Pokémon Ranger

For the very first time, fans of the series will have the opportunity to wear the coveted uniform of the Rangers, an elite group that protects Pokémon. The creators of Pokémon are exploring a new theme with a completely new way of playing: after solidarity, the core value of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, it is now about respecting nature. Invited to Autumn Town to follow the teaching of Elliot, one of the greatest Ranger chiefs, players will first have to pass their Ranger certification and then learn to collaborate with the captured Pokémon to solve puzzles, help people and protect nature against natural disasters. At the beginning of the adventure, set in the Sinnoh region, a region never explored before in the Pokémon world, players can choose between Lunick (boy) and Solana (girl) as heroes. Through increasingly important missions, the Ranger is confronted with the Go-Rock Group and tries to recover the Super-Capstick they have stolen from Professor Hastings. This is indeed the latest version of the Capstick used to capture wild Pokémon. The result of the latest technological research, the Capstick is a remote control that allows you to control a capture disc, a kind of spinning top emitting an impenetrable force field behind it for wild Pokémon. On the touch screen of the Nintendo DS, you will have to draw the desired path of the capture disc, thus offering players a completely new way of interacting with the game and the Pokémon. To capture a wild Pokémon, the player must draw circles around its target with the stylus, the challenge varying according to the size and power of the Pokémon. The Rangers are not alone in this epic adventure: to help them, they are accompanied by an exclusive partner Pokémon. This partner Pokémon and friend of the Ranger acts in symbiosis with the captured wild Pokémon and its powers to solve puzzles and overcome all kinds of obstacles. The use of the powers of a captured wild Pokémon is however limited. The player must choose the right moment to use a power because after use, the Pokémon holding this power is released into the wild. A captured Pokémon can help a player by providing either a Poké Aid or a Terrain Ability. Thanks to the Poké Aid, the player can use a previously captured Pokémon to capture a new one. Thanks to the Terrain Ability, the Pokémon is used to overcome an obstacle on the Ranger's path. As the adventure progresses, the Ranger's Capstick, used to retain wild Pokémon, becomes more and more powerful. This gives more energy and thus allows to retain more Pokémon at the same time. The captured wild Pokémon all provide different powers, depending on the group they belong to. The available groups are mostly based on elements such as Fire, Electricity or even Plant. As the adventure progresses, the challenge of capturing the right Pokémon becomes increasingly strategically important. Indeed, the advantages and disadvantages of group combinations have an influence on the help provided to the player. Many side quests give players the opportunity to meet and capture legendary Pokémon such as Kyogre, Groudon or Rayquaza. With these and more than 200 other Pokémon waiting to be captured, filling your Pokédex won't be easy.
