Note: The Virtual Console version of Mario Kart 64 on the Wii U is the American version of the game. It's pedal to the metal as you race through this successor to the Super NES classic, Super Mario Kart. Mario Kart 64 offers stunning graphics, tons of amazing power-ups, and a 3D version of the famous Battle Mode that will have you in stitches. Exemplary handling, as always with the Mario series developed by Shigeru Miyamoto, makes this game a classic you'll never tire of playing. In Mario Kart 64, you race alongside many stars including Mario, Bowser, and Yoshi, on four sets of four increasingly difficult circuits. The Mushroom Cup tracks are characterized by large curves and banked turns. Things start to get tougher in the Flower Cup. You'll have to dodge the trucks barreling down Toad's Factory and the rocks coming at you from the foggy peaks of Choco Mountain! The Star Cup tracks range from the icy slopes of Sherbet Land to the lava lakes surrounding Bowser's Castle. But the true challenge that will test your driving skills will be completing the four circuits of the Special Cup. Zip through the dark caves and wooded hills of DK's Jungle Parkway, climb the steep slopes of Yoshi Valley, and race across the ghostly Skyscraper before tackling the longest track in the game: the Rainbow Road with its colorful circuit. Mario Kart 64 offers two camera angles and three engine classes to choose from: 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc. You can gain more speed by mastering the drifting technique or by grabbing Super Stars. Each vehicle has different handling, acceleration, and top speed characteristics. The lightweight karts like Princess Peach's are very maneuverable in tight turns, but constantly risk getting knocked around by heavier competitors like Donkey Kong. A ton of hilarious and unique power-ups will let you throw shells, banana peels to make opponents spin out, lightning bolts to shrink them, and much more at your rivals. Size: 100.14 MB.
