Subnautica

After a catastrophic landing on an alien ocean world, the only way forward is down. Subnautica's oceans range from sunlit, shallow coral reefs to dangerous abyssal trenches. Manage your oxygen supply as you explore kelp forests, plateaus, reefs, and winding cave systems. The water is teeming with life: some helpful, but much of it harmful.

After waking up in your lifepod, it's a race to find water and food, and develop the equipment you need to explore, as quickly as possible. Gather resources from the ocean around you. Design knives, lighting, diving gear, personal submarine equipment. Venture deeper and deeper, finding rarer resources to craft increasingly advanced tools.

The ocean is full of life: Leverage the ecosystem. Lure and distract a dangerous creature with a fresh fish, or simply swim as fast as you can to avoid the jaws of predators.

At sunset, the predators emerge. The ocean is merciless to those caught unaware by the darkness. Safe daytime locations become dangerous at night, but also reveal a beauty that those who avoid the dark will never see.

Subnautica's seafloor is presented using a dynamic voxel terrain system. Dig caves to hide in, stash your loot, or create shortcuts through cave networks. Any vehicle impacts, or even explosive creatures, will change the shape of the world.
