In New York in the 1950s, the owner of a modest boxing club, Joe Dunn, is found hanged. At the same time, his protégé and best hope, Robert Yale, is reported missing. Devastated by these terrible news, Joe Dunn's daughter, Sonia, decides to continue her father's dream, takes over the club and calls on the services of John Blacksad to investigate this mysterious disappearance.

We are on the eve of the fight of the year and the club, in serious financial difficulties, would not survive the default of Robert Yale. During his investigation, John Blacksad will find himself plunged into a world where corruption is rampant.
