Here are the main features of the game:

· The roster : with more than 135 playable WWE and NXT Superstars including Brock Lesnar, the Superstar featured on the game's cover this year, John Cena, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Andre the Giant, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, A.J. - The gameplay: WWE 2K17 gives players greater control of the action. They can once again control the action where and how they want, even if that means taking the fight into the crowd or into the locker rooms. Gameplay improvements include improved gameplay responsiveness as well as game systems such as ladders and taunts, not to mention a new secondary submission system and thousands of new animations.

- Creation Suite: The WWE 2K17 Creation Suite allows players to customize, develop and share their own WWE Superstars, arenas, entrances, shows. Thanks to new features, players have access to a replay system that allows them to record the best moments of the match. The video content can then be used in the new Create a Video and Create a Victory options.

- MyCareer Mode: for the third year, this story-driven game mode allows players to discover what it means to become a WWE Superstar: have the opportunity to access the main roster, become a "Paul Heyman Guy," participate in deep rivalries, win more than one title, earn royalties on derivative products,…. In addition, they can take advantage of the brand new promotion engine: a series of script options and a counter allow to know the impact of the chosen words on the public; the more intense the reactions, the greater the reward for the player, including a ranking, popularity or boosted bank account.

- Universe Mode: WWE 2K17 introduces a new presentation system and a new promotion engine.
