When his flamboyant rival Pirelli threatens to unmask him, Sweeney is forced to slit his throat. The cunning Mrs. Lovett comes to his aid: to get rid of the cumbersome corpse, she proposes to make it into meat pies, which will also relaunch her own business. Sweeney discovers that Turpin now has designs on Johanna, whom he is sequestering with the complicity of his damned soul, Bailiff Bamford.
