Fearless soldier, super spy, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent... Nick Fury is all that and much more. To protect his country and the planet from the dangers that threaten them, Nick Fury is ready to do anything, even acts that superheroes would refuse to commit.
During World War II, Nick Fury became a hero with his Howling Commandos and often fought alongside Captain America. He resumed service in the 1960s as a spy for S.H.I.E.L.D., an American government organization that opposes terrorist groups such as Hydra and A.I.M. This is the beginning of a new career for Nick Fury, which will lead him to take the helm of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Two years after the start of his war stories in Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby launched a new series in the pages of the Strange Tales anthology, where the soldier Fury turns into a super spy. In the midst of the Cold War, the battle is fought in secret against communism and various terrorist organizations. All members of S.H.I.E.L.D., the bastion of the United States, are on the lookout.
From the early months of 1967 to the end of 1968, the brilliant Jim Steranko became the sole author of Nick Fury's adventures in Strange Tales. The screenwriter then creates a cycle of avant-garde episodes that transform the hero in depth. |
