Schleich - Andalusian Mare Figure - 13793In the 15th century, monks began to raise Andalusians in southern Spain. Their graceful appearance was particularly appreciated by nobles and kings. Few would have thought that the Pure Spanish breed was long used as a cavalry horse. Although it has always been renowned for its strength and courage, its main distinguishing feature remains its elegance. The Andalusian is an excellent dressage horse and performs high-flying jumps practiced elsewhere only by Lipizzans at the Spanish Riding School of Vienna.
