Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster imagined the superhero Superman in 1938. Anticipating the imminent destruction of their planet Krypton, two scientists decide to send their baby named Kal-El to the other end of the galaxy. Arrived on Earth, the child is recovered and then adopted by a farming couple. Under the name of Clark Kent, he grows up, learns to master his powers and develops a keen, almost Manichean, sense of morality. Once an adult, he goes to work as a reporter in the city of Metropolis and decides to use his skills to uphold justice. Powered by the sun, his powers are considerable. He has almost no rival. He can fly, has thermal vision, a healing factor and extraordinary longevity. Enough to justify the title of Superman! However, he remains vulnerable to Kryptonite, magic and the proximity of red suns.
This figurine is made of PVC (plastic). It measures about 10 cm in height. Superman is kneeling. The figurine is delivered with its base, to facilitate presentation on a desk for example. No assembly required.
A word about the DC Comics universe: created in 1935, DC Comics is one of the main comic book publishers in the United States. It will experience phenomenal success in 1938, with the creation of the first superhero: Superman. Batman will follow in 1939, then Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and many others. DC Comics also created Vertigo in 1993, a collection dedicated to more mature stories (The Sandman, Fables, Hellblazer, Preacher...), and acquired the Wildstorm universe in 1998 (The Authority, Top 10, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, etc.).
