The Dark Half (original title: The Dark Half) is a horror novel written by Stephen King and published in 1989. After having written several novels under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, Stephen King was finally unmasked in 1985. This novel was written in reaction to this episode of his life... For years, Thad Beaumont, a writer from Ludlow (Maine) who has a critical success but is little known to the general public, has been writing ultra-violent novels under the pseudonym of George Stark, which have been very successful. When he learns that a mischievous person determined to blackmail him has uncovered his secret, he decides to reveal the deception to the press and organizes the "death" and then the fake burial of George Stark in the Castle Rock cemetery. You thought you could get rid of me. You thought that with a fake burial for my fans and the press, everything would be settled. You told yourself: "It's just a pseudonym, it doesn't even exist." You told yourself: "Finished George Stark, now let's focus on real literature..." Poor naive! It must have been a shock when you saw the false grave wide open, huh? And that series of abominable murders? Exactly like in our novels! Except that this time it's real, very real. No, don't think you're going to get rid of me so easily. I am your double, your dark side... And I'll get your skin!
